Have you ever felt like time just flies by? One minute it’s Monday and the next it’s Friday, and you can’t even remember what you did in between. Well, it turns out there’s a reason for that.
Your brain is constantly making decisions, and in order to conserve energy, it goes into autopilot mode. This is great for mundane tasks like driving the same route to work every day, but it also means that your perception of time speeds up.
But there’s a trick to slowing down time: mix things up. Instead of taking the same route to work every day, try a new one. Not only will your brain be more engaged, but you’ll also have a new experience to remember.
The same goes for bills. If you fully automate everything, your brain won’t be paying attention. By leaving some bills unautomated, you’re able to catch errors and stay engaged with your finances. Trust me, I learned this the hard way when my debit card was hacked and I never would have noticed if I had everything automated.
So next time you’re feeling like time is slipping away, try mixing things up and engaging your brain. You might just find that time slows down a bit.
